The 11. Nordic Drinking Water Conference is held at Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel i Oslo. Deadline for booking of hotel room is May 15th. An alternative is Scandic Holberg Hotel, located just around the corner for the conference venue. Deadline for this hotel is May 10th. We strongly recommend you to book hotel room early, since June is a popular time to host events in Oslo.

Workshops

Below you find a description of two of the ten workshops at the conference. Information about the others is available on www.nordiwa.no. The aim of the workshops is to address current issues and topics that require in-depth discussion, in combination with knowledge sharing and experience from different countries.

Workshop 3 -Distributions system - fighting water loss

Tuesday June 12 08:30 – 10:00

The aim of the workshop is to learn about different approaches and software to tackle water loss. Group discussions on different problems and restrictions facing the water sector today. In addition the following abstracts will be presented:

  • Detection and Characterization of Water Loss Using Hourly Consumption Measurements, Kristoffer Andersen, Kamstrup A/S
  • Rehab-IT – Software tool for optimized pipeline rehabilitation developed in unique partnership between Danish utilities and consultant companies, Anders Hahn Kristensen, Niras
  • Incentives and Boundary Conditions for Water Leak Reduction in Scandinavia, Jens Dyrberg Nielsen, EnviDan

Workshop 5: Utilizing smart systems

Tuesday June 12 10:30–12:00

The aim of this workshop is to inspire the participants in using smart systems – and to discuss the opportunities in digitalization and automation in the data handling in water utilities. The workshop is also aiming at demonstrating that some of these ideas are already being used – and experiences with using smart systems will be shared.

  • There is a lot of talk of smart cities and smart solutions. But what is the actual benefit of these system today? We look into some practical and useful examples.
  • How to make a pumping station smart in 30 minutes? By the use of IoT-sensors, Gard Hansen, El-watch
  • Is your data correct? Validating and improving data collected in smart water networks, Jonas Kjeld Kirstein, DTU
  • Water Alert – Fighting water losses with machine learning – with focus on the actual results, not the machine learning, Jarle Furre, stavanger munciapility and Frøydis Sjøvold, Powel
  • Detecting Abnormalities in Water Works Operation, Rasmus Boe-Hansen, Krüger

Administrating the workshop is Hans-Jørgen Albrechtsen from the Danish Technical University.

About the conference

The Nordic Drinking Water Conference has been held every second year in the Nordic countries since 1989. NORDIWA 2018 is organized by Norwegian Water (Norsk Vann), in co-operation with the Danish Water and Wastewater Association (DANVA), the Icelandic Energy and Utilities (Samorka), the Swedish Water and Wastewater Association (Svenskt Vatten), the Finnish Water Utilities Association (FIWA) and NORDIWA.

Our aim is to host a conference that brings you up to date on the latest knowledge in the Nordic water sector and provide you with an opportunity to maintain and create new contacts with your fellow colleagues.
